Tennessee man arrested on meth, fentanyl charges in Hall County

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A Tennessee man was arrested Friday in Hall County on methamphetamine and fentanyl charges.

B.J. Williams with the Hall County Sheriff's Office said Jordan Caleb Hammontree, age 34 of Newport, Tennessee, was found in possession of the drugs on Old Athens Road near Harrison Square Apartments just east of Gainesville.

"What the investigators found on Mr. Hammontree was 23 grams of methamphetamine and 18 grams of fentanyl," Williams said. "If you're estimating how much that would sell on the streets, that would be around $5,400 of illegal drugs."

Williams said although Hammontree has a Tennessee address, he is believed to have been living in Georgia recently. He's being held in the Hall County Jail on nearly $34,000 bond on possession with intent to distribute charges for both drugs as well as a parole violation.

Williams said Hammontree's parole conditions had been transferred to Georgia, meaning he will not be extradited back to Tennessee.
