A man accused of killing both of his parents near Flowery Branch in 2023 pleaded guilty to the crimes Monday and has been sentenced to life in prison.

Northeastern Judicial Circuit District Attorney Lee Darragh confirmed Monday evening that Daniel Edward Rawlins, age 40, pleaded guilty to the murders of William and Leanette Rawlins almost a year to the day from their May 4, 2023 deaths. Darragh said Rawlins killed the two with blows to the head from a hammer.

Rawlins was sentenced Monday by Judge Kathlene Gosselin to two consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole.

William and Leanette Rawlins, ages 67 and 66 respectively at the time of their deaths, were found dead at their home on Union Church Road by Hall County authorities. Daniel Rawlins was found later that evening at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Braselton and arrested.

Daniel Rawlins has remained in the Hall County Jail since the murders.
