CLEVELAND, Ga. — Scott Givens has been hired as the next White County boys basketball head coach.

The White County Board of Education approved the hiring of the now-former South Forsyth boys coach Thursday night.

Givens is no stranger to Northeast Georgia. He assisted Manson Hill from 2000-09 at Gainesville and helped the Lady Red Elephants to two state championships in 2003 and 2004.

Givens has been at South Forsyth since 2013. After spending time as head coach at Coffee County High in Manchester, Givens rejoined Hill as an assistant at South Forsyth in 2013. Two years later, he was named head coach of the War Eagles when Hill stepped down.

Givens led the War Eagles to one Class 6A state tournament berth and five Class 7A tournament berths. The 2021 War Eagles finished 23-4 and were Region 6-7A champions. Givens was named Region 6-7A Coach of the Year for his team's success during the 2020-21 season.

In his nine seasons playing in the state’s largest classification, Givens finished with a 109-116 record with six tournament berths.
